Okay so I found this mint one owner 2002 kvf300 4x4!!! I serviced the machine changed the diff fluid and cleaned it up! The bike only had 889 miles on it at the time I bought it. The bike would skip and sputter and then clear up and drive like normal! I removed the carb and cleaned it. Still does the same thing and all the jets are clean.... HELP!!!
ie
I owned one just like it for 16yrs with no issues.. great machine. Check to see if fuel flow is good, the filer in the fuel petcock might be crudded up. Check for water in your fuel, a common problem today with running storage tanks to low. Mine had developed a slight hesitation on acceleration and was hard starting in really cold weather, so I bought a "Uni" rebuild kit and filter. Changed jets that were in the kit and adjusted the slide settings per kit instructions. Ran like a scared rabbit and started quickly in really cold weather after the kit install. Good luck.
Thanks I’ll check that!! Yeah this bike was in a time capsule I think it is literally like brand new other than the light skip. I filled the tank with 93 and added a little marvel mystery and sea foam. It idles great and will run awesome it just has that little hesitation every now and then at low rpm then goes away. I’ll check what you suggested!!! Painted the wheels black!!!
In my experience it just means there's still some dirt in the carb. It probably needs to be cleaned again. Checking the filter in the petcock is a good idea.
And there's no value in using higher octane fuel than the owners manual recommends, unless it means you're able to get it without ethanol.
Actually, by using premium fuel in an engine that requires regular fuel, may cause the performance to decrease. Premium fuel burns slower than regular so poor performancecan easily be had if engine is set up for faster burning regular fuel. With high compression and advanced timming premium fuel is need to burn slower and prevent spark knock

I agree. I think there's enough leeway in most modern engines that 87 or 91 won't make much difference (including no advantage). But if I were able to get 87 with 15% ethanol but 91 with 0% ethanol I would give it a shot, but I do believe in using the lowest octane fuel you can get away with.

I agree, sometimes engines just run better with a small increase in octane. My SxS actually runs better on 87 than it does 92 octane. However my motorhome runs better and gets slightly better fuel economy running 89 than the 87 it calls for. However 93 gas lowers the fuel economy. I would guess the extra work the engine has to makes a couple extra "vitamins" worthwhile. I always tell people to try different grades and see if there is a real difference in performance and fuel economy.
