Default No eletric start Bayou 250

We have a 2004 Bayou 250 2X4 manual transmission. When we purchased it (very used) we were told the ignition switch did not work. My husband has always pull cranked it, but after shoulder surgery it's not as easy to do. It has sat up for a few years now and we are trying to get it back running for our teens to enjoy. Looking for some advice on a good starting point to trouble shoot and make sure of the exact problem and hopefully not spend a ton of money needlessly. I did watch a video on testing the starter relay and solenoid, we will do that too, but I did not find much on how to know if the actual switch is bad.

You can not pull-start it without turning the ignition switch to 'ON". So that means the switch is good or jumpered to be always on. You could have a bad starter button or the wires and connectors between it and the starter relay. That quad also has to be in neutral for electric start, I believe. Time to get a wiring diagram.
