Had a stange thing happen to my 650, before i changed the front final drive fluid on its 10 hour service i decided to put it in 4wd and drive up and down the block to stir the fluid up . The strange one was when i put it back in 2wd it took a few feet to roll before it disengaged. It did this several times and prior to that it always dissengager instantly. It dosent do it any more. has anyone had this happen or even have an idea why it would happen?

Mine does it each way about 50% of the time.
That probably doesn't help you. When I changed the front fluid, I could only put about 1/2 of spec in before it overflowed. I though that was strange.

The other day I turned the key on (with the motor off) and flipped the 4x4 switch. The servo motor kept repeatedly trying to engage (or disengage ~I forget which) the 4x4. It would probably keep trying for however long the key was left on. Mine too doesn't engage the 4x4 instantly, nor disengage 4x4 right away.

It didnt bother me the thing is that it did it brand new and in the manual it says its supposed to do it (thats dissengage from 4wd to 2wd) instantly. it seems to be working ok now i was just curious if anyone else came across this problem??

hey jeffoxer same here when i re filled the front diff it didnt seem to take much to refill it.I thought that was strange i didnt messure exactly how much went in. I just looked in my tusty manual and it calls for just under a 1/2 quart.Know that i think about it thats probably about how much went in there.Have you re checked the level as its been eating at me to double check.

Haven't double checked level yet. I think I will just change the fluid again.

People
There are a couple of chambers inside that front differential, sometimes it takes a few minutes to fully fill.
I find that it helps if you rotate the front wheels during filling...pour some in rotate, add some more rotate...so on & so forth.
You should put atleast 400 ml. in .
It calls for 430 ml., I think that is a completely dry spec.
