jefffoxsr,
Do you have the phone number so I can call Kawasaki and ask them for a letter too? Do you have the person's name that you talked too? If you could email that info that would be great! matty.s@excite.com
Thanks.

I've done all the services myself in the past, and would definately prefer to do this one myself as well.

949-460-5688, I talked to Ruth Hankins. She answers the phone in the "customer relations" dept. She is very nice and is the one who wrote and signed the letter. The letter says,
"You may have any facility perform the scheduled maintenance or perform it yourself. The warranty would not be voided provided you follow the schedule of maintenance in your Owner's Manual and you keep your records and receipts"....................

I learned that the newEST P/N for the new (longer) choke cable is 54017-1222 (replacing -1216, -1219). The bad news is that they are on backorder. Dlr says they will be avail around beginning Dec. The good news is that there is a solution if you are having a running rich or fouling problem with the old/original choke cable. The cable for rear carb is little too short and may hang up the plunger in the carb (half closed). If you remove the black round plastic cover from the LH side of the carb, you will see plunger moving, close/open. When choke is OFF, the plunger should be completely open. If not, try repositioning the cable which is little too short and little too tight for the rear carb. Choke/plunger is extremely sensitive to the choke cable routing and positioning. You can find the best routing and positioning if you adjust it while watching the plunger moving side to side. Or forget what I just wrote and wait till December!!!

My dealer disconnected my choke cable right at the choke lever on the handlebars. Now if I want to use the choke, I have to pull the cable itself instead of the lever. This is what kawasaki advised him to do.

Anyone come up with a solid solution to the choke cable problem yet? I have some friends that have them, and it is sad to see such great bikes not running very good. On one quad, we pulled the air box and all to get a good look, but I didn't really see how to disconnect the cable from the rear carb. So, we put it back together and disconnected the choke cable at the handlebar to push the cable as far as it could go into the cable housing. Still didn't help. Any advise is appreciated.

I have not had a choke problem yet. I wish I new if mine if different/better or if it is just waiting for the day I go on a long trip to get me.

I got a pressure luber from the dealer. I may use it sometime soon as preventative maintenance. I hope a good solution to the choke comes soon.

When I took the airbox off, I did two things wrong. I did not get the inlet pipe through the rubber shield and it partially blocked it. Whoops. I also pushed that diaphram equalizer hose (the one that goes on the box fitting that has a slit in it) on too far and it was clogged with mud on the other end and it took away all my high end. It kept coughing at higher throttle. Man that sucked. It wan really good at low throttle still.

I learned to clean that equalizer hose and not push it on all the way, and put the box back right.
