It seems very long at 85"... can it fit in a 6 foot bed with the tailgate down? The truck is a 2001 Chevy Silverado Z71 LT.

Thanks,

I have the same truck, but a 2000. I plan on fitting a 650 in the bed of mine. The tailgate will have to be down, but no biggie. I think the bed itself is like 83". I have an Xplorer now with 26" tires and it barely fits with the tailgate up. I have noticed that other big bore machines are about the same length as the 650. I have asked this question before, and some of the others here will probably give you a better more informative response.

With the tailgate down it will be no problem. Chevy has a 18" tailgate so you have about 90-92 inches from the front of the bed to the back of the tailgate. Also, the 85" length of the quad is from rack to rack. Even if you have to block the front wheels back to keep the front rack off the trucks rear window, the center of the rear wheels will still be sitting somewhere about the joint between the bed and tailgate.

From the pics of the 650 it looks like the tires will hit before the rack hits the window. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks guys,

Also, does the 650 fit length wise or do you have to drive over the wheel wells?

You mean width wise?
Yes it will fit between the wheelwells as long as the specs are right on the Kawasaki website. I have almost 50 inches between the wheel wells in my truck. The 650 is supposed to be 46 inches wide.

I don't have a Chevrolet, but my Ford shortbed stepside might be sized close enough. The front bumper hits on the front of the bed. I have a bedliner that goes over the front lip of the bed, that makes the quad not bang against it. It has a couple of inches to spare between the wheel wells.

The rear fenders, muffler and bumper are over the tailgate and it almost shuts. I put car ramps in the bed to raise the nose of the ATV. And it fit with the tailgate up. Now I have 28" mudzillas, and the ATV does not fit with the gate up anymore. I liked locking it in.

Yes, it will fit in the back of a chevy short bed. I had a 1999 z71 ext short bed and my 650 barley fit in the back with the tail gate up it will hit the front of the bed and the tail gate will hit your rear tires but it will fit if u want it to. Really you dont have to worry about it rolling because it will fit in so tight.
