Quest 650 fastest in New Dirt Wheels Mag shootout????
#1
Has anyone read the new issue of Dirt Wheels??? The added 28 inch tires to the Praire 650/Grizzly 660/Quest 650/Sportsman 700 also exhaust systems to all but the Quest, and K&N filters and jetting to all.
They said that the Quest blew away everything in the 300ft drag races. There is a pic of the Quest racing the Prarie and is well out in front just off the line. How could this be? I thought the Prarie was the fastest in drag races in the shootout they had in January?? Plus everything else had a pipe and the quest did not.

The Quest has been the fastest in most if not all of the shootouts so far. It is probably geared very tall. I seen the isue of DW your talking about but I dont think you can assume that the pic is from the start line. The Praire has alot of its punch down low and is pretty quick off of the line. When I looked at the pic I thought it was at the finish line.

That test was not done by Dirt Wheel's Testers. It was done by the owners of Highlifter, and TexMud and some Highlifter employees. With stockers, the 650 might be the fastest off the line and then maybe the 700 top end, but the 28s change the dearing. Keep in mind that some quads are geared perfect for the 300 year drag. Some quads that will run 35 mph in low with stockers will benefit from the higher gearing caused by the 28s. The Sportsman700, for example, is too low geared in low to run a 100 yard drag, and add the taller tires, it is too high geared for such a short race.

Yeah, they also give out lots of misinformation too.I have about a hundred back issues in my garage(I use them for starting the fire)I thought it was a pretty good mag when I first started reading it, but after a year and a half or so I finally started catching on to the fact that newspaper starts the fire easier and is closer to being worth the money you pay for it.
