My father just found a very lightly used 2000 prairie 300(4x4) with only 180 miles on it. We right now own a 01' AC 400(4x4) and it an awsome machine, takes ya anywhere! I want to know if the prairie is worth getting and will it do what the AC can do? We do mostly work around the cabin (cut trees, pull a utility trailor) and hunt, and a lot of recreational trail riding. At first i was worried about the 300cc motor, but im really notr sure. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanx Ryan

Ps. what is a estimated top speed for this machine? I know that the AC is very slow, that is the only down side to it.

Ryan,
My wife has a 2001 300 4x4 with 500 miles on it with no problems, top speed my oldest son (28yrs.old) has gotten riding was 50 on flat dirt road,it will also haul my big rump around pretty good(235#),very good power for a 300 class,my wife doe's prefer using low range in the steep and technical trails though. We paid 4800.00 new last year for it.Work's pretty good in the mud also, considering stock tires.

I have a '01 300 4x4. With my fat butt it tops out at about 50 indicated, no idea actual. Only been stuck twice, both times in a quicksand type mud with no bottom. I use mine similar to what you discribed, works well.
