Picked up my 650 on Friday, put the BearClaws on before my first ride.
After the first ride noticed oil on the left side of engine, leaking down from between the cylinders. Cleaned it up thought maybe sloppy work from the dealer spilling it. After Sundays ride more oil leaking down the left side of motor. $&$#@@$, Its going to the shop on Wednesday to find out whats wrong.

Sorry to hear about your oil leak. Hope it's something simple. How did the Claws work? I'm thinking of putting the same set-up on mine.

I'm happy the oil leak was only a loose valve cover.

I never rode the quad with the stock Dunflops, There was so much negative feedback on the handling, flats etc. that I went with the Bearclaws before my first ride. They worked great, Rode in a poker run last weekend, On fast turns the front end did't washout (understeer). Remember only half throttle so I never pushed to the limits. Smooth ride on hardpack trails and dirt roads, lots of traction on mud, uphills, downhill, sidehill. The 650 and the tires were awesome!! Only used 4x4 twice on muddy rutted areas and breezed right through. Can't wait till next weekend.

Hey guys check the front drive shaft seal exiting the front of the motor. It's very difficult to find unless you drop the skid plate. Then look for the tell tale sign of a oil leak.

DUNFLOP is an accurate name! They "done flopped" over the beads! LOL
Glad to know oil leak was minor. Looked mine over during the performance of that fisrt service last nite. No leaks here, thank goodness. That 1/2 throttle business SUCKS!!!!!! I am over that now!
I went with Castrol Syntec in the engine, after consulting the service mgr. at my dealer.
Good luck.

Hi,
I hope this doesn't sound too whiney-butt, but automotive oils do not meet kawasaki's spec.

The best stuff is mobil MX4T (for motorcycles), Mobil V-twin (20w50 for air cooled motorcycles) or amsoil's product.

It's more expensive, but has superior film strength, and clings longer to the parts when the quad sits for long periods. I'm not an oil expert, but I am told over and over not to use an automotive oil (even though we don't have wet clutches).

How often do you plan on changing your oil since they are an extended drain interval for the oil or are you just going to change the filter and top off the oil, or are you changeing it at specified intervals????

nyroc--- Castrol Syntec meets, or exceeds Kawasaki's oil specs for the P-650 engine, according to what I have read and been told by my dealer. I checked into the specs before using this oil, as I DID NOT want to give them an excuse to deny any future warranty claims. Just covering a$$, So to speak!
As for change frequency, I need to check into that. I'll follow what the factory recommends, 'till I can get an answer that I trust.

Ruvy,
My 650 had the exact same leak. I just cleaned it up the first time I noticed it hoping it was just left over from manufacturing or something. I had to take it in though and get it fixed.
