Is there a web site for the little inserts that I have seen after you drill the holes in your airbox lid.. Or can anyone tell me where to find them.

Also, if you have them installed now, give me the pros and cons with your experience with them please.

Thanks.

LONGARM.

Alot of the guys and gals are ordering them from DennisKirk, Im running open hole on my but I carry a extra lid in my bag and if I go mudden or mainly deep water crossing I just switch lids. The lid and o-ring only cost me 18 bucks.

I took a different approach. It was harder than the Uni vents are.

It works really well. My 28" tires rob power, but this airbox mod seems to have added more power than the tires robbed.

When you put the Uni Filters in seal them with some silcone or goop. I pulled the foam out and cut the screen out. I primarily put them in to devert mosture away from the hole and they work great. If you do this you'll have to clean your air filter after every ride.

Ok. Yall give this a chance now. I was thinking about how to modify the airbox lid and thought about pvc. What about taking a 90% with threaded ends on it, cutting a hole in the side of the lid where the tray area is and glueing the 90 into the side of the tray's vertical side. It is 5 inches long and is 2 inches high so you ought to get two 3/4 inch 90s in there. That would open it up some. I thought also about it you needed to shut the holes up to keep mud or water out, screw on a pvc cap and let the stock air snorkel do its job. Another idea is that if you ever need to put on a tall snorkel for whatever reason (like trying to make your prarie into a submarine), You could plug up your stock snorkel hole inside your airbox and then attach two pvc pipes to the threaded ends of your modified area on the top of the airbox. You would have to leave off the plastic hinged cover to run snorkles, but it might work.

Ok.. what do yall think about that one. It might not look sporty, but it would be under the hinged flap and would be unseen, plus, I bet it would work.

Regardless, who had the pictures of their UNI-Vents on the top of their airbox lid. I saw it somewhere and now cant find it. Also, I cant find the UNI-Vents on DennisKirk or anywhere else to buy. I went to the UNIVENT web page, and there it has what I think is the UNI-Vents in a six pack for around 8 bucks. There is no description and no picture so I dont know if it is what I am looking for or not.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the univents. And again, if you have them, let me know if you like them and now that you have made the changes and know what you know now, would you recommend my doing the modification. Thanks OLdmanwheeler for your info...

Thank You in advance.

I'll give you an "A" for originality. Actually, if you choose to modify your air box using the UNI filters you have not altered the depth of water you can transfers. The OEM air intake is lower then what the UNI vents are. Besides, if you get into water up that is higher then the air filter cover there are other means of water entering your engine then just through the air box you would have to address.

Go to http://www.rockymountainatv.com and enter vents as the search key word. They have them for $6.99 for 6, but they appear to be currently out of stock.

nyroc---Nice site you have there. I was impressed with your "submarine" pix. Those two, where you stalled it in a deeper than expected canal.

Yeah, it did not seem deep until I stopped. I guess the back tires were helping lift the front up a little. When I stopped to back up, I sunk lower than the photo shows and almost got water in the airbox. I was so nervous I forgot to keep a little gas on the throttle and it stalled. I had to wait for my 660 riding friend stop laughing and then get some pictures before he would pull me out.

My 660 friend has a habit of holding two fingers up to tell me say he "made it" in two wheel drive. I seem to make it through just as much stuff in 2 wheel drive as he does. He also gets hung up in places a lot more when he would have made it fine if he was in 4x4 to begin with.

But because of this STUPID 2 wheel drive game, I was not in 4x4 in this stream.

I won't snorkle my 650. I don't really see this much deep water.

NYROC--- That's weird, I have the same situation. My friend "Wrecks" has a Grizz, and we HAVE to do all the hills, holes, etc. that the OTHER does! Kinda stupid, but makes life interesting!
