Could anyone please give me some information on the drive belt used on the Prairie's that were sold in the United States. I would like to know what the belt # is as well I would like to know what the belt width is. The belts sold in Canada are #59011-1080. When new these belts are already narrower then the minimun tolerance as specified by Kaw. Any information would be greatly apprecated.
I would also like to get a lift kit but nobody around seems to be able to get one. Are there any places around Niagra Falls that might have these?
Thanks.

Hi Oshawa,
Sound to me like you are not measuring as per Kawasaki procedure. The way Kawasaki said to measure belt width is by using three straight edges. Put a straight edges on each side of belt against the angles and one across the top and measure the width where the three come together. This take about six hands to do.
You can not just measure the width with a caliper alone because of the small angles at the top of the belt.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Mastrblastr. I did try Royal as well as my local dealer. The problem is I have been waiting since mid Feb for the lift kits to come off backorder. I called again today but there still not avalable. The good news however is my dealer told me to bring my 650 in for some FREE updates ( choke cables,springs,driven clutch service }
Thanks to you also krabidKVF650 you are right I did measure the belt incorrectly according to Kaw. I asked my dealer for a manual but he told me to hold off as Kaw. is rewrighting there shop manuals.

While on the subject of choke springs. Did they start manafacturing them with the new ones or do you still have to go and get them??? Or how can u tell if you have the new ones compared to the old ones?

Oshawa: Being a P650 owner myself, I am quite interested in these free updates. Is this a Kawasaki initiative or a good will gesture from your dealer? I have had the problems with the springs and the belt deflection with mine, my dealer ended up stretching the choke springs and I ended up replacing the belt to correct a squeeling problemb with the clutch. If there are updates to this wonderfull machines from Kawasaki I sure would like to know about it!

i think they are changing the choke cables at the factory now, just people like me who have had theirs for a while have the old choke cable. my deflection was too much IMO, and the dealer said he would take care of it for free although i am having them clean my front diff. i didnt take my 28's off either.

As far as I know guys this "bulletin", as my dealer put it, has come straight from Kaw. It lists choke springs & cables as well as the driven clutch ( primarly the 4 "pucks" that slide in the shaft) and any affected parts as a result from defect.
All my info is at the dealers in my quad so I couldn't check the Kaw. site to see if it shows up as a recall.
I will tell you this much. I wasn't long putting on my old belt before it went back to the dealer.
