Don't use a surgical glove for your patch !!! if it is latex, gas will turn it into a gooey mess in short order. I found this out using latex gloves when cleaning some parts in gas,the fingers on the glove swelled and looked like spagetti after only a few seconds immersed in gas. A very thin layer of RTV that is gas and oil resistant would probably work fine, clean the area to bond with rubbing alcohol and lay the diaphragm on a flat surface, then carefully spread the RTV over the rip. let it dry,and it should be flexible enough to work. Good luck.
