I've been in contact with a fellow at Gates Rubber Co. Found his name from another post somewhere in here. His name is Fabian Weber, Application Engineer. Ph. # (303) 744-4441, Fax (303) 744-4600 Email fweber@gates.com Told him about all the problems we've had with the POS belt that Kawi put on the 650's. He had one of his guys measure a factory belt and was as follows: top width - 1.125 inches; thickness - .555 inches; angle - 26 degrees; outside circumferance - 32.5 inches.
He said he has heard that many of us have had problems and hopefully(soon) they will have a belt out for us. Drop him an email. Maybe if he gets enough comments from across the the US and from our Canuck brothers, he'll get the higher ups at Gates to fire up the production line sooner.
Does anyone have the name of someone at Kawasaki that we can contact and everybody let know about the belt problem? Maybe it's time we make some noise!!

There, I just mailed the guy a Gates,,,,,,,now who to contact at Kaw?

A better question:How do you contact someone at Kaw?There is no where to contact at Kaw Can or Kaw japan!!!!!

No wonder the dealer keeps telling me the don't here of any problems, they do a good job of making it so you can't get ahold of anyone.

I have contacted Kawa three times about the belt problem, using the telephone number in the owner's manual for contacting customer service. Got no satisfaction any of the three times. Basically they told me that based on the number of 650's sold versus reported belt problems "the problem was not statistically important". I wrote a letter detailing the problems I have had with the belt and did not get any response.
As soon as someone markets a ATV that is a awesome as the 650, my 650 is going to be history.
