THe other day I was looking at the KLR 250 it has a6 speed and 11grand tach and rev limit.Soooo why if the mohave is the same engine why do we have to be relegatd to the 5spd 7 grand rpm limit? Also for that kxf400 thread thats starting to annoy the **** outta me,Kawasaki already has a motor for it the klr650 and its already been done back in 1992 by a privateer who sent it into dirtwheels.I remember steve holbert saying man if only kawi would come out w this bike Id go back to racing 4 strokes...If some people only knew if they just only knew...

Reverse is the sh*T in the woods but 6spds would give it more top end range.Getting off th subject alot of the 125 mx bikes now have 5 spd and its great for track but I think the enginneers hurt the 125s by doing this.We all know more people ride 125s off road and not on the track and off road the 1 xtra speed gives th bike more useable range.Id say forget the 250 altogether 8500 or 12000 rpm level whatver give me a nice modded 650 taken out to like 700 or a nice kx 250 between the rails.YEAH BABY!

Well the problem is sugerhead is getting cought with your pants down, plain and simple.

The putting bike engines in a quad is in the best way to say it, a very bad idea. The detuning factor you must go threw to handle twice the wieght is just a complete waiste of money in kawi or any one elses part.

We all know you can use a klr black box and realy come close to doubling the HP of a mojave, but to do this and warrant the reliabillity of the machine would be pure suicide for kawi.

During the R&D of such machines they are developed with high flowing air filters and high flowing exhaust, then when they have a fine finished product they start clamping her down to meet EPA regs. You will find no better example then to compare bikes from europe to the ones here in the states. But lets not go there.

Kawi and suzuki have put out some fine on and off road bikes threw the years. But as far as developing engines and chassis for atv's, they have done absolutely nothing. Look at thier developments in 14 years, absolutely nothing. This shows you they have not even spent any time money or effort on the atv machines.

So now that they have lost complete contact with the atv sport it takes a alliance, a little measuring out of 250R and 400EX chassis and then find a hot engine, the DRZ. This is the quickest most cost effective way to floor a machine before just giving out completely on atv's.

I hier the complaints already on why picking this DRZ motor over the higher performance counter parts. In truth because this motor is a little more beefier than the others and would take much less conversions to be able to hold up to the stress that 375 pounds would put on it.

And threw standardisation of parts and motors this engine (Z or KFX) it comes down to a huge cost savings by both companies. To mass produce a new engine it comes out to be quite a expense well past any R&D exspense. In some cases machines need to be built to acomodate the construction of parts. In all cases programs must be developed for the machines wich make these parts. Added facillities must be made for the now extra machinery and assembly. Added work forces for tandum assemblies of different models, well you get the idea.

So enless a manufacturer realy devotes them selves to the product that you are inquiring about, it will never happen. Do you realize how many years of R&D and engineering goes on before a mass producted piece of any thing comes out. I worked on the engineering and development of oil rigs for 6 to 7 years before we lay the first piece of iron. These where all time tested and proven rigs. But once you get something agreed upon on paper, aproved, budget allocated, then you go threw bid prassesses for all your parts and pieces, then maybe then within a few years you may see something that slightly ressembles what you originally thought it was going to be.

So when all these poeple complain, bash or brand justify themselves remember, it's a pure case of getting your self cought with your pants down. I totally believe this is more a last ditch effort by both manufacturers to try and do some thing with a sport atv line.

In the future I believe we will see this alliance desolve and kawi going back to being kawii and the same for suzuki, but for now it is the most cost affective way to save face and get back into R&D/manufacturing while keeping poeple like you and I passified with this "1" machine untill they get back on track.

Getting caught w my pants down, wow that was slap in the face.I wasnt complaining bout it just wondering I understand perfectly why 2 companys would join in rank, automotive companies have done this for years to cut costs on mfging and overhead.I dont flaw them for this, itll b easier for the aftermarket too.I would think by putting an underpowered mill in a heavier frame would actually tax it more but then again im not an engineer nor would I want to be.It dont matter to me I Love the color green and thats where my wallet will vote with even if some of it does go to suzi.I might evn buy a gsxr 750 by years end so I am brand loyal to both companies, always have been and I always will.

Its ok i musta misunderstood ya somewhere Im a forgiving person.Alotof people say the mfgs dont car ebout us quad riders.I dont know if they do or dont however thru out the years Ive seen some civilians build kick butt quads using existing parts that wer ekilla. But the companies still cant figure it out...hmmm.

Looks like Honda is the one that has got caught with there pants down , a few monthes ago I had there top of the line ATV (rubicon) and it is like riding a bicycle to my 650 , and now they are down the list in sport bikes as well. Don't get me wrong I have owned a many of Hondas , they are good machines but they are fallen down the page some and are having to try to catch up with everyone.
Have a good day all.
