i have a 2002 mojave with white bros e-series slip on, k&n filter+jet kit, and 13tooth front sprocket. what would be the best thing to put on next for decent performance. Also I was thinking about that 330 kit, what is the complete price of that with all the machine work and everything else that has to be done?

You might want to check on cams. They can make a huge difference. Check www.muzzys.com

If you send Mickey at fst the whole complete engine I think it will cost close to $1000. He has to do case mods for $125 and resleeve for $75.00. You will need heavy duty clutch springs for $15 and hd valve springs for $95 and have your rev-limiter removed for $85 and the 330 kit is $325. Plus the labor of dissasembling your motor and reassembling it. You can save some money if you were capable of taking the motor aprt and just sending him wehat he needs.
I would recommend some cams from either web or megacycle. I got some race cams from megacycle with some heavy duty valve springs and I got a clamp-on filter. I also bought a klr250 ignition from a cycle salvage yard so it has no rev limit and it hauls a** now. I can hang side by side with a 400ex till 4th gear. It revs to the moon and then some. It has a slight loss of low-end but you only notice it right off idle in 1st gear. When you rev it out and shift to second it stands right up and takes off like a rocket. You won't be dissapointed.

if i change the cams and valve springs and take out the rev limiter will it be easy to overrev it and blow the engine? i know when to shift and all and i wouldnt blow it, but i just want to know if it is easy to blow. also about what RPM can you rev up until shift point?

You won't over rev it and blow. The valves will float if you go to high and that is almost imposible. I don't know how high it revs but it is WAY more than stock.

exactly what does it mean to have the valves float? sorry to ask so many questions, i just rarely work on 4 stroke engines.

The stock valve springs are kinda weak so they can't keep up at high rpm and you will start missing and cutting out. You will never have to worry about it with the stock cdi since the rev-limiter comes on. With a klr box you need the springs because it will only rev a little more than stock and they will float. With the heavy springs and cam it REVS

so you are saying if a change the cams, valve springs, and get the black box(no rev limiter). i wont do any serious damage to the engine if I overev it past a certain point? i am asking because sometime on trails when I dont feel like shifting i will just rev the heck out of it in say 3rd gear until the rev limiter starts kickin in. i can stop doing this, but i just want to know what will happen exactly if I run past like say 11,500RPM(if it even goes up to that). please help me.
thanks for the help,
Mark

If you change the cams and valve springs it will allow the engine to rev higher. I would think that if you are holding it in third, after you change the cams & valve springs, you will be wanting to let off the throttle because of the power gain you will have. If you ride in the high RPM range like you say, the cams and springs are a must & will be better for your engine. As far as rev limit goes, you will feel the power flatten out. Try not to ride in this area. As long as you can feel the engine pulling, you should be ok.
