P650 ?
#1
I was rideing my P650 to day down to my friends house. I was going to see how fast it would go after getting it back for the shop. I was going about 62mph and it felt like the gas just cut off or something it made a noise and then did it again. I talk to my friend and left his house and was going about 50mph and let off the throttle and then got back on the throttle agin and it made the same noise as before and backfired. I need some help guys I dont know why it did this or what is wrong with it. It is all stock and I plan on riding this weekend. I have 280 miles on it I have had it just a little over 3 months.

Pull off the plastic piece where the radiator cap is in front of the quad & see if the snorkle to the right of the cap has something blocking it. I just saw this causing a problem on one at local shop today. Just a thought.

There have been lots of posts about the backfiring. I notice mine doing it when the air filter is getting dirty. I cleaned my air filter good and it quit doing it. However, it never lost power. ?? Good luck. You can search for some of the other recommendations for backfiring cures.

Except for the weird noise it sounds exactly like the symptoms mine experienced when the filter was over oiled with a very heavy filter oil. I think what was happening was that the restricted filter created so much vacuum that the carb were sucked dry.
