98' prairie 400 clutch
#1
I am having problems with the drive clutch on my prairie, it makes a loud noise (sounds like a rod knocking) when at idle and gets progresivly louder as the clutch closes.Once the clutch closes the noise disapears. From looking at the drive clutch it seems to have excesive play in what I would say is the bushing, shim play seems to be normal. Has anyone had this type of problem and what was the solution....
Thanks Ed.

The shoes wear and create that noise. It happens to all belt drives basically.
I can't give you any better advice than that because I haven't worked on my brother's 99 400 yet.
I do know that everybody's 400 (and probably all others) do that and that you can get the parts are faily easily replace them yourself.
