i just picked up a warn 2500 winch for installation on my p650. i had to purchase the mounting kit which i am still waiting for. my question is: is this a nightmare to install? the directions do not seem very detailed. especially the wiring end of it. would like to hear from anyone who has installed a warn on their p650. thanks

yo man,
its a pretty simple instalation.the wires look worse then they are.when you get the whole thing out and ready to install.you will notice what wires go where.my winch has got me and my boys out of crazy situation.you will love it.its not that hard.i put my cell in the storage box under the seat.i drill holes for the wires then sealed around the wire for water protection.it works great.
later

Just have the dealership do it for you. Cost of winch and labor, but hey it is on there in about two hours and you know it is done right......or least at my Kawa. dealer.

Just be sure that when you route the wires...make sure they are away from the exhaust pipes.

It's funny that you guys even mention the dealership. I WILL NOT LET THEM TOUCH MY PRAIRIE, 95% of them are terrible. I have horror stories.

I placed my solonoid under the seat between the battery and relay section on the cross bar, I used hose clamps to attach it and had easy access to the battery for power. Tha hardest part for me was getting the winch in place, you have to twist it into place.; Good luck

jwkawi, I have a warn 2500, but I removed the toggle switch from that remote thingy, and mounted it in a very easy to use location. It is exceptionally convenient to use.

See this link.
