Well it is happening... The good ole hanging choke!

The question I have is there anyway I could talk my dealer in to giving me the springs to put in? I dont have much confidence in them! I thought I had heard someone say they did this! Thanks for the help.....

 

My dealer lets me do that. I guess it just depends on them being nice enough.

 

what are they symptoms of a hanging choke spring? Do you know if the 360 has the same spring? The reason I ask is
my choke does not work correctly, & my dealer doesn't want to deal with it & just says it works fine, so I guess it's up to
me to take care of. When I have my choke on, unless it's fully choked it just kills the engine, plus when it does work the engine is
not smooth at all & is very ruff, the pipe also spits out allot of black smoke.

 

Weak springs cause one or both chokes to remain engaged, causeing rough idle, or slow idle, stalling, fouled plugs etc. It happened to 650's a lot since there is one lever and a single cable that splits into two cables. Some 650's needed stifer springs.

I don't think your 360 needs any springs. I don't know why your 360 does that. I thought I saw somewhere that the chokes can be adjusted using a jet or screw or something. I haven't ever had a choke prob and haven't looked at it.

 

Relating back to the problem with my choke, I found out by complete accident that if the fule is cut of to the carberator the choke works just fine. I was running the engine for a couple of minutes after shutting the fuel switch off last night, & then shut the engine off. Went back out a couple hours later after the machine was cold again (30 degrees out side) and forgot to turn the fuel switch back on and started the engine fully choked & the choke worked great, the engine ran smooth & the choke would work great at all levels. But once I turned the fuel switch back on, it ran rough again & would kill the engine unless the choke was fully engaged. Previously the choke has always made the engine run very rough & kill's the engine if the choke wasnt out fully. Does anyone have a possile soulution to this problem, or have any ideas of where I might start, I dont know much about carberators, & the dealer has been no help at all..
