Default 650 COUGHING AT LOW SPEED

Hi

My 650 has a problem at low rpm. It seems to be poping back into the air box at slow speed.
If you are at mid to full throttle it seems ok. it has 8 hours and i just left it with the dealer.
They said they would have to call Kawasaki to check it out. Any ideas.

mine does the same when cold but seems to go away after it warms up. The popping or coughing is pretty loud.

Mine does it too but only in cold temps. I think it's caused by a lean condition? Any one else got any ideas?

Do a search about "pilot screws" in this forum. Follow my instructions to adjust your pilot fuel screws and you will be all set.

The idle circuit is lean. Adjust the pilot screws to between 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 turns out, going a 1/4 turn at a time, and the coughing will be reduced.

Jasonb had the same problem with his 650. He has a few hundred miles on it that were easy trail miles. He had his vavles adjusted and the spitting stopped. I am not contradicting what these other guys are telling you, I am just telling you what fixed Jasonb's 650. It is easy enough to adjust the carb and see, but if that does not fix it, you might just want to try adjusting the valves.

Ditto on valve adjustment. The job is not much fun, access is tight and you have to bend and cut your leaf guage to get an accurate measurement. I adjusted my vavles at 1100 mi. six were a tat tight. Ran and started noticeably better.
