Prairie 650 4 X 4 Speed?
#1
Hi all, just had some fresh snow here in Boston and wanted to go for a little sleigh ride at night. I hooked up our old tabogon to my 650 and pulled my family around the meadows. I was having so much fun, I didn't even notice that each member had fallen off and were waiting my return. My question. What is the max. speed I can drive in Hi while in 4 X 4 so I don't hurt my machine. Thanks for your help.

There is no rule. It won't whift out of 4x4 until you go slower than 12mph.
The front axles and diff spin always, just no powerrr transferred in 2x4. There is no chain. No oil issues. No one has ever said their gear wear out because of this.
Gosh, other than wasting a lot of gas, and possibly causing handling or safety issues, I can't see why you can't go fast in 4x4. I do all the time, but I usually slow down under 12 to shift out of 4x4 then speed back up.

I plan on doing the same thing as soon as we get some snow!
My only question, does snow roost like mud does? Could be a bummer w/kids on the sled, and fun with your freinds on!

If the tires spin easier, the belt won't wear as easy. Not quite as important to use low in 2x4 in the snow.
Snow roosts, I don't ever see it flipping as high or far. If you aren't trying to spin the tires, you won't really get much snow on the kids. Also, if you try to hit other riders with snow roost, it doesn't stick on them like mud does.
