reverse light
I wanted a reverse light on my sixfitty but didnt want a switch.i went into the wire harness behind the handlebar cover and found a wire(yellow)that went on and off(voltage meter)with the rev indicator light.so i tapped into it and ran it to a relay then i ran a 12v lead from the batt to the relay and then one to the light.it worked good about 3 times now the light stays on in all gears except neutral.did i find the wrong wire?cant figure it out, does any one have a schematic that could tell me what wire i should use?or if my idea is even possible.thanks for the help

yes, yello is somthin else. R/W is the one that is grounded by shifting to reverse, red with white stripe. You sould use it to provide signal for a small relay for your backup light. I can see that yello may have indicated voltage changes through a relay coil or something like that, but it is not directly responsible for what you want.

I'm sorry, I only looked in the repair manual. I didn't ever actually see that wire.
Try looking around the shift arm on the crankcase for the reverse sensor. My 650 is stuffed into it's corner where I can't look at that side at all. If you are still havind problems finding that wire tomorrow I may go out and take a look.
