WOW, I just went to a metric conversion website, and unless I screwed something up, 34.6 kw(max power) equals 46.4 Hp and 57.81 Nm(max torque) equals about 43 lbs ft of torque. I am sure the engine is capable of numbers beyond those, but 46.4 hp and 43 lbs ft of torque are pretty good for stock trim. I am surprised at the rpm #'s for those figures with 6,500 being the "power" and 4,500 being the "torque". That might suggest that this thing has a relitively low max rpm or just a very flat/strong power curve or possably both.

I hope those numbers are at the rear wheels. I have seen numbers on the Prairie that put the HP at 46 at the crank. They claim the V-Force has been given more power than the P-650.

Does anybody know if the Prairie 650 and the KFX700 will be using the same belt? From what I know they will be using the same CVT/Transmission, only they will be tuned for performance. What I am wondering is if they will be introducing a new high performance belt for the higher horsepower KFX700 that will compatable with the P650 ........MJSTX

The 650 makes 40.4hp with restricted intake and exhaust, compromised timing, 64ccs less displacement, and smaller cams and the 700 supposedly has undone all of this and only makes 46.4hp. Something doesn't seem right about these numbers.

I spoke to the Service Mech. at my local dealership. He just attended a course on dealing with the servicing and mechanical aspects of the KFX400 & 700. He told me that the CVT has been upgraded and improved upon. That along with the lighter weight and lower rotating mass (ie: 2wd not 4wd), Kawasaki feels that the belt will not be an issue. I guess only time will tell. There is no doubt that Kawi has learned from the troubles that the P650's have had with their belts.

I think one of the most interesting facts that I found from the website that I posted in my previous post, is the RPM's that this V-Twin is making it's power in. It looks to me like there is still going to be a LOT of room for Performance gains left in this thing.

It's a Great time to be alive.

hey very good #,impressive for stock form, seem an efficient engine to me (46 hp at 6500) i'm sure with 66mm stroke this quad will rev much faster and still pulling great power once it's braked-in and tricked out.

Does anyone know the gear ratio of the rear end. If the peak hp is at the same RPM as the p650, @ 6500 rpm's. where is the extra speed coming from. Size of the clutch or gear ratio is the only way, if this is the case maybe the gears will interchange with the p650.

Does anybody know this?.

Thoe numbers seem pretty good for an engine that is in my lawn tractor, hate to break it to you guys the Kawi 650 engine is a great motor so great it is made by John deer and it is the same motor in my 20hp tractor. So i think kawi did a great job getting what they could out of it, as far as the 700 V-force competing with Preditors, Raptors and such forget about it way to heavy. Now if they made this a 4X4 that would justify the weight, and make an awesome woods machine.
