Today I got the 650 out of the shed and tried to start It was very hard and finaly cranked
then at idle it died. I pulled the airfilter to check it and tried to start again once running it spit alot of oil
up Into the air box I then Checked the oil and it is at i high level due to being contaminated by gas.
how can that happen. whaT NOW change oil and filter? Take to Dealer? Help

it can happen if you left your fuel **** turned on...
I believe you can just change the filter and oil... with it being gas, I think it will just run out.. it isn't like getting water in there...
I may be mistaken, one of the veterans will be able to tell you exactly what to do.

gil, if your oil smells like gas, and you think there is a substantial amount in there, just change it.
Although not 100% of it will get changed, what little will be left will evaporate. Change the filter too. You just want to avoid using a seriously diluted oil.
What Nemmeh says about the fuel switch is true. Sometimes the float stick (when the quad is off) and fuel fills the cylinder, runs past rings, gets in gas.
When mine did that it filled the intake port, then locked next time I tried to start it.
This has only happened to me on a low tank. That sounds backwards doesn't it.

I agree, check your oil to see if it smells like gas. If you have serious contamination I'd suggest buying the cheapest filter and oil you can find and change with it. Then run the engine for 10-15 minutes and then change it again with the oil and filter you normally would use. Fuel in the oil can cause it to break down and lose it's ability to lubricate. Doing an interim change should get rid of any remaining gas left from the just draining the contaminated oil. Good luck.

The chokes sticking open will cause gas in the oil. I've seen this personally on 3 different 650's and read about several more on the forums. If you don't have the updated fuel enrichener plunger return springs, get them. '02 or '03 Prairie, it doesn't matter, they're still using the weak (old) springs. I had my front cylinder filled with gas twice and had to keep changing the oil. Finally discovered the root cause and changed the choke return springs. That was a year ago; no more gas in the oil and I never shut the fuel valve off. (Unless I'm hauling it on the trailer, of course).

The return spring problem is exaggerated by low fuel level and leaving the fuel petcock turned on. The lower the fuel in the tank, the more air there is. Air expands far more than gasoline and creates extra pressure in the tank. This forces fuel past the unseated choke prunger.

I talked to kawasaki they say That you must turn off gas valve when the thing is parked.
I told them i had heard of choke spring/cable problems and they said that my 03 is not one with the
problem.I called back and spoke to another person and their responce was the onley time he had heard of choke spring problems was on the forums never from any one calling in.
I do not buy this .My brother has not turned hig gas off on his foreman 450 unless he is standing it up

fuel dilution is a common occurence in oil analysis reports for cars that make frequent short trips. This doesn't allow the oil to heat up enough to full operating temperature, to burn off contaminants and boil off fuel. If your oil is severely contaminated, change it. Frankly I dont see why you don't just change it, but most likely you could get the bike out and run it hard for a half hour or an hour and it will boil off.

The Oil Was Changed By Me on Saterday I Left the plug out untill there was no more drips changed the
Filter was also changed. This oil had just been changed the saterday before and was still clean but very
diluted by the GAS. air cleaner box was also cleaned out .After Re Filling with castrol 10-40 She fired on
the first try. After Geting it back together it seems fine. I was worried about long term damage Since It
Was run for about 5Minuts With the Gas in the oil Also Turning off the gas all the time is a drag.
