4WD not engaging, found the fix!!!
#41
I Had nothing acting funny what so ever,it just seemed everytime i went for a ride it would quit working ,then the next time it would work again. Then finally it quit working all together ,the moisture would get in the sensor and quit working then after a few days in the garage it would dry out and work again ,until it finally quit working all together. I talked withe my dealer and he steered me in the right direction. It is a real easy fix,let me know how you make out and hope this helps ,I am 90% sure this is your problem

Nyroc,
I quess I should have stuck with my initial thoughts in January. If I had of stood on my bet, maybe you'd owe me a drink. Anyway, good to have you back in the 4wd club Scooter. Happy trails, enjoy.

Yep, Scotia, you were right, the only catch is that there was nothing wrong with the speedo, it was functioning correctly. Either the speed sensor does not send that info, or that function was OK. Wish I would have tried it sooner, but the manual does not direct you there either. The manual lists an order to check things, and the one that kept stopping me was the incorrect power supply to the controller and no where does it say the speed sensor might cause that! Only references ignition switch, wiring, or fuse! Tried it all, but that is the first part I replaced besides a fuse.

Scooter,
It's just good to be going again, I bet. Not an expensive or hard repair either, got to love that.
Maybe the intermittant signal was enough for the speedo but not for the 4x4. Either way, the main thing is it's fixed. Enjoy, mud season is here.
