Default Suzuki V-twin Quad

If Suzuki brings out a big bore quad they already have a great 650 V-twin engine
in their SV650 street bike. I bought one two years ago and with airbox and exhaust
mods it dynos at 71 rear wheel hp. Runs on regular gas and has lots of low and mid range
torque. Suzuki may raise the stanard on big bore quads in the near future with a version
of this engine. Next few years should be fun.

I hate to tell you this, but unless you have a fair amount of pocket change you will never come close to beating the p650. I know because I raced a warrior with a k&n filter, exhaust, and a dome piston, and I still blew the doors off of it, and top speed was even, until I get the CDI. Just don't jump to the conclusion that Kawi's are slow, because at this point you can't beat mine.

I probably didn't word that post very well, I just bought a 03 650 Prairie so I was not trying to put them down. I was trying to say that the future looks bright for us ATV'ers and that Suzuki has a dandy 650 V-twin that would fit right in a big Quad. I think the Prairie 650 is the only big quad to buy now, ( well maybe the 700 V-Force)

I am sure that 650 twin from suk will be a strong contender...but from what i have read the kawi v-twin is the first powerplant truly designed ground up for a quad and therefore has inherent advantages. The kawi 650 is untapped and really their is nothing truly pushing kawi to make it stronger right now...the Griz is its closest performance challenger and the Kawi still outguns it...leaps will be made with the KVF 700 as it will face more stiffer competition...if the bar is raised by the suk or anyone else... i believe you will start seeing kawi building better framework around this engine and beefing it up...this V-Twin may not dominate like it does now for the next 5 years....but it will be a healthy competitor for sometime.

HI GUY'S:
Suzuki has a great engine in the SV650 motorcycle indeed...but you won's see the 60-70 or so horsepower show up in a stock utility quad. The Kawi 650 is capable of very high horsepower but it's VERY choked up in it's current form. All the talk of 800+ cc quads is funny isn't it? The big bores out there right now are capable of very high levels of speed and power so an 800cc for most people is a quick ticket to heaven or hell. I believe Suzuki will release something very cose in power to the Kawi , if not more. It's going to get interesting.

The latest news from the Dealers around here is Suzujki's V-twin will be a 750 with rear IRS. The Dealers also said that Kawasaki will increase the present P650 to a full Prairie 700cc by either '05 or maybe sooner in mid-'04. Just rumors? We all know that Suzuki is working on something for their own Monster 4x4 Flagship.
