Default 650 clutch sheave solution....

Thank's Alltoy's, I do remember reading that thread now, only problem is here, a GOOD aluminum welder around here will cost $70.00 an hour and then the cost of the machine shop to turn the sheaves after they are welded up may cost more than new sheaves.........

Stakk how bad are your sheaves, can they hold out for a few months? I ask because I could do them for you it's just I am real busy at work doing 6-12 hour days but I would do them for you at my cost plus the shipping. The price of these sheaves is outrageous they turn them on a CNC machine and bang out probably 200 a day. It would take longer to program the computer than it would to do them on the lathe. I guess they have to make a coin somewhere.

650Mountain,
Our 650's have a roller crank and cams this is excellent for engine performance. I had a gasket made to go between the cylinder bore and the crank case to lower the compression ratio. I use 8/1 with blower and NOS combination as 9/1 or greater has the chance to blow the motor. I use a dry NOS system as it delivers more punch with less volume the only draw back with the dry is it creates more heat. The better more reliable system is a wet system where fuel is mixed with the NOS and you can inject race fuels with the NOS and not only pump fuel. Shotgun put me on to the race fuel additive and it has been a definate throb in the right direction. I picked up the NOS unit from a Neon that a fellow I know was rebuilding, he eventually went to wet unit with a computer back up so as not to damage another motor. HIs wife was a little ticked when he blew at the drags one weekend. 130 hp engine completely NOS injected was pushing 400 hp only the bottom end couldn't handle it.

The bottom end on the 650 is tuff the only real disappointment is the top end as the valves could have been larger. The heads take very well to porting and polishing extra hp gains can be expected with this alone. Getting a little long winded tonight hope this helps have fun will talk later.

Alltoys, My sheaves are still in good shape, they are worn down a little maybe 0.5mm if that but they are worn even from top to bottom and this is with 2100 miles, they will last another thousand miles anyway before they are to worn to keep the belt tight, when the time comes I would love to have you build mine up like you did to your's, no hurry though, send me a P.M. if you don't care and let's exchange phone number's and address'es and I'll give you a call when they need resurfaceing and maybe we can work out a time that works for you.....Thank alot Danny
