Alltoys- good job. I think the raptor heads sucks though. Craycraft is working on that now. A raptor is done by 8500 rpms. When they get it sorted out and making power at 10000 rpms then it will fly. I do plan on getting a 700 in the near future. Sounds like you have a killer quad.

The NUMBERS GAME is all over the Chart.

WHO IS RIGHT???? Lets look at all the numbers being thrown around.

Post from GE4x4,
Well, it's been said by a few, the the 700 is suppose to have close to 50hp at the wheels. The Raptor with a pipe, will put out around 40-42rwhp. So if the 700 HP # are right, it still should beat a piped Raptor. But I think the 700 has 50hp, but it's at the crank, not the wheels. So that would put RWHP around 40rwhp. So a stock 700 has about the same HP as a piped Raptor, but the 118lb weight difference is where it will get beat.

Post from Big Bubba,
The 700 don't have 50 HP at the rear wheels it has it at the crank but if it did have 50 hp that the rear wheels it still weighs well over 500 pounds which will slow it down a lot! Also since its shaft driven that hogs alot more ponies to push than the chain drive.

Post from bfb650b2,
I was told the VForce has 39.6HP vs 31.4HP for the Prairie 650, at the rear wheels, in the stock form.

Here is a Website that has the RWHP of the 700 at "Near 50hp" KFX 700 Info (Near bottom of the page).
off-road.com ran a Raptor and a KFX700 in a 200 meter Drag Race, and said that the 700 only beat it by 2 tenths. Just one quick note, 2 tenths is either a lot or a little depending on the speed that they are traveling at the time that they go through the timing mark, ie (Example), if they are going 10mph 2 tenths is not a big difference, if they are doing 100mph, the 2 tenths distance apart would be greater. In all reality, 2 tenths is not that big of a separation, concidering that these quads were probably only doing around 40 to 50 mph at the end of 200 meters. So from the get go, we know that the KFX700 is only supposed to be just a little bit faster than a Raptor in 200 meters. After that, who knows? If GE4x4 is right, and the 700 only has around 40 RWHP and the piped Raptor has 40-42 RWHP, then the added weight (Concidering that for every 100 lbs, you would loose a 10th of a second in you et.), he very well may be right. Another thing to concider is that if you are racing in the sand, the added weight of the KFX700 is going to be even more of a disadvantage, due to the fact that it is going to ride lower in the sand, thus causing more resistance.

Now here is where I start to get confused.

The Raptor is only supposed to have around 35 rwhp Stock.
Lets say for the sake of argument that the KFX700 has 40 rwhp.
The DS650 is supposed to be around 40 rwhp stock.
The Predator is supposed to have 45 rwhp stock.

Now with the understanding that the 700 weighs well over 100lbs more than the Raptor & Predator and roughly 45lbs heavier than the DS, how is it that the Raptor seems to beat everything with the Least amount of HP?
I'm not trying to start a Flame, I am just having a hard time understanding how the numbers can say one thing, and all the talk on this forum says something different. I understand all of the power to weight ratios, but the difference between the Raptor hp and the Predator hp is a lot, and one of the recent Mags had the DS being the fastest in several incremental times. Not to mention that Off-road.com says that the 700 wins in a 200 meter race.

One more note. I have been saying in these forums that the big difference that we should all notice with the KFX700 over the other quads is the Torque. The 700 has a ton of Torque and that is the reason that it comes off the line so hard. It is also the reason that it pulls the front end up so easy. Torque is what it takes to get you moving. HP is what takes over when the Torque falls off. At 43 ftlbs, the 700 has *****.

Don't anyone kid themselves, this 700 V-Twin has got more potential than any other 4 stroke Quad motor on the market today and once the performance parts start to become available, it's going to get very ineresting. Will the CVT limit it? Some say yes, some say no. Guess we will have to wait and see.

There is a big problem when people mention this quad has this much HP and this quad has that much HP. Well what they are saying is PEAK horsepower, which means nothing, nothing at all. Throw that information out the window. If you really want to compare you need a dyno graph showing the HP throughout the entire HP range. Maybe the raptor makes 33 HP at 7000 rpm while the predator makes 30 at 7000 rpm, who knows?. We don't, we need evidence, machines dynoed on the SAME dyno on the SAME day to compare.

So this is why a raptor can beat the other big bores even though it has left horsepower, it all depends where its made.

PS: I don't know if the raptor is faster or better than the rest its just an example I used to show my point.

Well I never thought this would go this far.

The ground we were running the 2 on was very sandy. I have seen everyone's opinions on the matter, however, the results I posted were just a baseline for comparison. The stock tires on the VForce suck in the sand, they are better in loamy conditions and trail riding. I will try the Vforce against my banshee next.

I am sure I will not see my VForce for at least 2 weeks while it is being reapaired in the shop.

Later

Just picked mine up today, won't get a chance to take it for a spin until Thursday or Friday. I guess I will get to see if it lives up to my expectations. Either way, I will give my impressions to you straight, no B.S.

So far, just looking it over, the width of the seat will take some getting use to, my KFX400 is very narrow up near the fuel tank. I also don't like how far the rear (Left) hand brake lever is from the grip. I have pretty good size hands, and it is a reach even for me. It's not that big of a deal, because I use the foot brake 99% of the time anyway.

Won't be long now and I will see for my self how well it goes.

Later.
