you guys HAVE to be kidding about : one color is faster than the other!

 

I was just kidding at the beginning. But on my last post about the Red 02 and 03 being slower. I've actually heard this from 4 or 5 P650 owners so last weekend we decided to see if this was true. Now this could be related to this specific Red bike just being slower, but it sounded exactly like what we had heard from other owners. I doubt it's true, but makes you wonder.

 

That's just a coincidence. I'm sure they make all of the quads in the factory the same and just fit some with green, some with red, and some with camo plastic. My red seems much faster than the green one I had. But every single engine will be different. No two ATVs are the same. It's the same with cars. Every car will run a little different. The engine may be a little tighter in one than the other.

 

On the 03 the air filter and box are different, the cdi is different (I think) and the engine breaking is better. Nyroc has a list on his site..

 

OK now color doesn't matter manufacter dates matter. Mine 02 is the fastest because it's an eary production unit. Then kawi slowed down the real 02 and then kawi brought some power back to the 03 so it will go as fast as the bomb quest 650. Words from kawi.

 

ksduckhunter, I would shop around some more, those prices seem at least $500 - $1200 too high. Since you got your bike sold and have some cash I would look at autotrader.com, the local paper, or even ebay for a good used bike, with an extended warranty. I would not buy a used one without it.
Just to give an example. I live in KY. I just bought a used green 02 P650 last month off a private seller, it was in excellent, condition with 95 hrs on it.
It came with:
4 year ext warranty,
warn 2000 winch,
handguards,
kimpex front bumper,
hitch,
KN filter, and large camo rack bag.

I paid $4,800 for it, and I think that was a fair deal, not great, not bad . I shopped around some, and P650's seem to range $4,200 - $5,000 for an 02 model. I did not look at 03s, cause 02's are cheaper.
