How deep can the 650 go

ya if you are sitting in water that is above the exhaust and and you take your thumb off the throttle it will die. just to much back pressure for the motor to keep going at idle. if that happens get the exaust out of the water and try to start it. if that dont work get the bike to shore and tip it up on its back that will drain all the water out of the headers.

I had mine in icy water up to the rack front and back at idle for a good 15 seconds this weekend and drove through the rest of the mud hole. Keep the idle control up a bit and it should help. I thought it would die when the exhaust was submerged for so long at idle, but it kept running. It is way more water tight than my Polaris. I kinda wish I would have gotten pictures. Been in over the front racks, but after a while ya have to hammer it to get the front out of the water or else you'll be swimming the rest of the way...
...there's a video of me in rack deep water on Nyrocs website under videos...called 650 water wheelie. It was fun...went through it like 8 times but the first was a little nerving because I had no idea how deep it was.
