black spring or shim???

Default black spring or shim???

my 650 is squeaking on tackoff should i reshim it or will installing the black spring probably fix it

Take out the shims and put in the black spring. I just did mine(mine squeeled too), and it was well worth it. Just make sure you get a really good set of snap ring pliers. Mine broke taking off the circlip.

Default black spring or shim???

Since you have to pull the original secondary spring out to re-shim or remove a shim, it would be time and money well spent to put the black spring in at the same time.

Both... you must do a belt deflection (shim) adjustment, installing the black spring will not solve the squawk problem. That is a belt deflection issue that must be resolved by adjusting the thickness of shims.
