Prairie 650 Questions!
#1
Hey all, my P-650 just arrived in the mail today! All I can say is wow!!!!! Coming off of a rancher, it is quite a bit of difference. The first question I have for you guy is When you turn the key on, is the oil light suppose to blink? When I put it into gear, the light stops flashing. Is there anything wrong? Also, does the P-650 suppose to have a lot of "snap" between 0-5 mph? It is quick off the line, but from 6 mph on its crazy! Thank you for all your help!

Deffinately buy a black secondary spring. It will increase belt life and will have less hesitation on low end but make sure the belt is on the tight side of spec. While I had my machine in for it's first fluids change, I told them to go ahead and change the spring. They changed it but I know they left the belt too sloppy. I can still wheelie with my 26"ers but imagine what it will do with proper tention on the belt.
I Should take care of that pretty soon.

I need a new parcel in the mail one that's camo. LOL The oil light is suppose to flash until it starts. Is the 03 different? the 02's blink in any gear when the engine is off, it never should flash or be on when the engine is running. there is a low end accerlerator on the other fourms that will remove even more heistation on starting off.

I went out riding my p-650 today....It was a blast! It is much quiter than my rancher! One thing I noticed today was it dies for no reason sometimes, mostly after letting off the throttle. It does not matter whether it is warm or cold, it does this periodically. Does anyone know what could cause this? I did buy it from someone in NJ, and I live in california. The elevations are the same, but do I still need to rejet? Thanks

adjust your air screws on your carbs. Start the bike up after it gets warm, turn out each screw about 1/4 turn until it starts to idle faster.

I gotta agree with letcherKY... turn out those air screws. Wait till it's warmed up though, each bike is different and by leting it warm up you will be able to fine tune it for your alt and your bike.
Also if you can find someone to check your idle rpms i would do that. I took mine in to car maintance shop and they had a little red computer that would tell you your idle rpms. They cliped a clip around a spark plug, and then i just adjusted my idle screw tell it was in the proper range. (I don't have my service manual with me but i belive its 1100 rpms + or - 50.)
Congrats on the new purchase... your in for a real treat!!!
