Default 2001 Polaris Sportsman 90 hard start?

I am so sick of starting this thing once it's running it runs great, but if it sits for a couple weeks 10 mins. to get going. Does anyone know if the electrict choke only works wile it is cranking? It always fires but as soon as I let off starter button it dies. My latest trick has been sticking my finger in the air inlet pipe and choking it that way. Anyone change the carb or added a manual choke set up? I was also thinking of adding a primer set up. Any other ideas?

The elec chokes can be a problem.
Most replace the carb.

the electric choke is most likely the problem my 90 was doing this but a little bit of gas in the carb it fired rite up and ran fine you mite got to do a clean job on the carb on it too.
