Kawasaki KFX80 Whos Got Em
Lt80,
Last week I posted a thread about jetting the 20mm keihin carb with some mods. You said it should take a 115 main. I was wondering if this is what you have been using, because I installed a 102 or 104, dont remember, and it was so rich it wouldnt get past 1/4 idle. The 98 main that came with it, worked perfectly. But you were right about the pilot, the stock, for that carb, was a little rich. If I would have put a 115 in it, it wouldnt have run. So I was just wondering if the 115 was a typo, or am I completely missing something? The quad runs extremely strong and took 3rd in some drags last weekend against a couple of ds90's heavily modded.
Thanks,
DStroyer

destroyer: That jetting was on a ported LT80,maybe thats the difference. I've known a few to run on what I recommended.I prefer the stock carb personally.
Mr.B,,If it makes sence to you to let something burn up,,have at it.Surely the chance of the plastic part busting and flying around the clutch's then being blown over the motor would be worth the 15 minutes that it takes to do it right.

lt80,
It is ported. Its a trinity stage 3 port job. The reed cage also has my personal touch done to it, which made a huge difference. I was just wondering if I had missed something on our rebuild, because our jetting is way different than you suggested. But anyway, the most important thing is it runs great, and is extremely strong. On another note, is anyone in the southern Wisconsin or Northern Illinois area? If so, on Sept 7th is the Annual Fudd Run put on by the Monkey Butt ATV club in Janesville Wis. It is a huge dirt drag event with mudbogs and challange courses. I believe that all kids that participate recieve a plaque of some sort for attending. They also have trophy's for 1st and 2nd in all classes. My son and I will be there in the drags. Maybe we will see some of you there.
