atv for my boys
where the gas or electric? The little "cheesy" electric ones can be found at toys-r-us for around $300 (i think). My sister-in-law has one that her 2 year old boy rides up and down the driveway. My 4 year old daughter is to big of it... The electric one are toys that will soon be grown out of...
As for gas powered you would be looking at a 50cc Quad. They come with restrictor plate that limit the top speed on the that can be remove as they grow into it. (down to 5 MPH, about the max speed of the electric one).
I found some on ebay. I looked at some in-town shops and they were about $1400 to $1800 for a 50cc quad. found the same thing on ebay for $700 to $900 depending on how the auction ended. go to ebay and search for "atv kids" and a bunch will pop up. Brands are KAZUMA model Meerkat 50 (the Kazuma is like a cheep version of honda to my understanding it uses honda replacement parts) or REDCAT, model 50.
One of the additional safty features on the Ratcat 50 is a engine kill cord. You can attach a string to the rear of the quad. and walk behind it. if he get outa control pull the cord and the engine stops.

I think E-ton was putting out a little 40cc bike (The Raskel???). IIRC it ran about $1,200 new.
My opinion is that unless you have some developmentally advanced kids, 2 or 3 years old is too young for any gas powered quad. I just don't think that the co-ordination needed for safe riding is there yet - even if it's a restricted bike running cicrles in the yard.
The electric ATV toys run about $125 to $150, but are only good on a smooth surface. They don't do well in grass but are good to teach the basics of steering.
Large 4 year olds - maybe. Age 5 - probably. 6 and up - yup.
