Default Twist Throttle

I'm considering switching my sons Eton Rascal to twist throttle. The thumb throttle is too difficult for his little hands.
Has anyone done this before?
I found a twist throttle made for a minibike, and thought that I could probably make it work.
Any experience??

OOPS, I was referring to the thumb saver. I tried it when my other son was first learning to ride. It didn't help.

OrganDuner,

Just wondering if you plan on installing a Twist Throttle on your mini-quad... During my earlier investigation, I received more "don't do it!!!" postings then "it works for us" postings. From a safety perspective, twist throttles have rider risks. However, if your kids can't run their current thumb control throttle with ease, then their current ability of controlling the unit is at high risk. Just wondering if you made your decision on this one....

We installed a thumb throttle on my kids and he likes it. hes able to hold the whole grip rather than just the edge of his fingers. it takes some time to get used to it, but after a few hours he figured out that if he leaned back and felt like he was out of contraolhe could let off or let go with that hand for a second. almost all the kids that race his class have twist throttles.

racedad26,

I'm confused. Perhaps just a typo thing...

Did you keep the original Thumb Throttle control or install Twist Throttle control? By the rest of your text (in the previous posting), it sounds like you installed a Twist Throttole control.

If you installed a Twist Throttle control, can you tell us what year & model of mini-quad you have it on and where you purchased this Twist Throttle??? A company name, website and part number details would be would be great.

thanks.
