LT80 Tires??
#1
I just installed the new 2 1/2" wheel spacers from CRJ. I have the front wheels flipped around backwards and the rear normal. They seem to be about even this way, maybe a touch wider in the front.
Now with the rear tires so far out I am thinking about upgrading to 18X9.5X8 Fast Trekker or Turf Tamers on the rear. We did a full out mud ride during new years day. I don't want to go any smaller than stock so the 16"s are out. He has to keep up with or out mud a TRX90. I was wondering which wheel and tire combo to go with. Douglas aluminum .125 and Fast Trekker's or what? Which wheel size and offset? Could use some experience on this one.

When I had an LT80 for the little guy, I replaced the back tires with Kenda Scorpions, 20x7x8, nice oblong nubs for tread, gripped real nice, and would still let you slide good in corners, almost exactly the same sized as stock,so I didn't notice any difference in power or handling. Keeps the ground clearance up,too, for muddy stuff. and with the tread pattern, when it wears a little, you can swap rims from side to side and get a fresh edge on your tread, almost doubles tire life.

95wolv--That sounds like a big tire for the LT. Did you run wheel spacers? What tire did you have on the front?
My stock 18" front tires are just clearing the fenders with the wheel spacers. I don't know if 20's would make it or not.

Stock Dunlops on the LT80 are 19x7x8, the Kenda 20's are almost exactly the same height, don't know why you'd have clearance problems, unless the wheel spacers put the wheels out near the edge of the fender.

I just bought a set of Shredder RA's. 18x9.5x8. Great tire - great price. Rocky Mountain ATV has them for $31 each, you can get them mounted on the Douglas alum rim - rims are $27 ea. Buy them as a package.

rupez, what is the height on those 18x 6.5x8 Snow Hogs. I called to check on some and they said the mounted height was 17.3" at 28 psi (yikes) and it was about 16" tall with no air. Of course when I asked the guy if he could measure them flat he thought I was crazy but did it anyway even after I explained that I would only run 4 psi in them so they would basically be flat. I'm sure everyone in the place got a good laugh at some guy wanting to know how tall a flat tire was. If they are only 16" tall That makes them a little shorter than I wanted but was just wanting some ground clearance. We have a set of the 16" snow hogs on one LT 80 and they are actually 15" tall, the thing handles like a slot car but not very trail friendly with it that low. Was hoping the 18's would work but if they are only 16" tall they may not. We just put on a set of 18x9.5x8 Trekkers on and they are just a little too wide for my liking. I may have to live with it though. The Trekkers and Snow Hogs both go pretty well and would recommend both but the Trekkers are a lot wider. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
