You didn't say what year or condition it is in. I have one and paid $800 for it 3 years ago from a friend. I think I could get over a $1000 for it. A friend of mine had an 1988 fourtrax, sold it about 8 months ago for $1200. Just depends on how good of a condition it was kept in.

There's one in our classifieds right now for $600. A lot depends on condition plus older mini's are worth less that a few years ago when there were no other mini's to choose from. I bought an '84 LT50 in '98 and paid $1,000. Sold in in '00 for $950. I don't think I'd get that much now.

jaybeecon, you did well on that LT50. I had an '85 that I sold about 4 months ago. new rings, engine and wheel bearings, carb, pull start,chain,sprockets,brakes,cables,etc.. ($450 in parts alone). mech. great, but cosmetically a little rough (although zero cracks in plastic, just scuffed up a lot). It took about 2 months to get about $550-600 (US).

wteceraserman, I think Honda only made the 70 for a couple of years. Ask Honda dealer about parts availability. probably a pull-start, which is a pain for young kids (I'd say 7-8 and under, they struggle with it). Any shocks or coils or suspension on the 70? I'd think for that price it should require nothing, and have some proof of recent $$ spent on it.

i agree with others about year and condition, but seems to me $1000 is TOP $$ for something in perfect condition (I am guessing it's a late 80's model?), maybe early 90's.

How does it compare to a E-Ton 90 or Predator 90?

The TRX-70 has:
- 4 stroke engine
- NO suspension
- Pull Start
- Manual shift Transmission

On the positive side, their engines are Hondas. They go, and go and go like a Singer sewing machine. Many say their engines last for 15+ years without the need of tweaking or rebuilding them.

For a starter bike, I would NOT recommend this model at all. Many first time riders can't get the concept of shifting their gears, hense they "over rev" the engine many times. Many parents get tired of using its pull rope and it doesn't come with "daytime" running lights.

For hard sand and possibility of hitting loose sand type riding, I would recommend a 2 stroke engine. Generally speaking, you get more bottom end power out of a stock 2 stroke, compared to the TRX-70's 4 stroke engine. I have a buddy who has a TRX-70 and it dramatically bogs in loose sand. He can only make its tires spin in the slippery type mud.

Hope this helps...

my kids learned to ride on the honda 70. put the thing in 2nd gear, set the throttle limiter so they can't over rev it and and let them ride. Ours is 18 years old and still runs great. I agree that pull starting it can get old, but as my kids get older they help each other out and pull start it for me. Heck, they even gas the quads up in the morning and check the oil. (my daughters are 14,11 and 7). As far as bogging down, my 7 year old was able to ride it all over pismo this past christmas. Sure it won't make it up the big hills, but, she sure made it up some hill we didnt think she could. As far as a light, I taped on my stinger flash light on the handle bars and put a light to the rear and she was able to cruise around at night. As far as parts go, I haven't had a problem getting them from the local honda/kawasaki or yamaha dealers. Good luck

bought one for 600 from the orig owner, son rode it for 4 years, I replaced chain, sprockets, brake pads, pull start asmbly rear axle bearings and tires sold it for 700 last year. The people i sold it to, thier daughter rode it for a year and they just recently put a new top end in it. Fitst time motor has been touched since 1986. I have just bought it back from the people i sold it to last year for 700. Personally I would not spend more than 800. So it doesent have suspension, big deal it will be an excellent starter bike. It s a 4 stroke so it will run all day on a tank of gas. Good old honda reliablity they will run forever but typical of honda 4 strokes they dont run for crap when they are cold. a good investment as all the little bikes all hold thier value. Good luck
