Low lt80 compression
#1
Well I figured out the petcock valve and it apears to be working fine now, still need to get a new screen for the longer pick up tube. Did a compression test and it only crancks out 65 psi. I do not want to build it up any because my daughter is not there yet but I will check out the cylinder and either ring it or bore it. What are these restrictors that I keep reading about in the carb and the exhaust pipe? Also can I replace the needle valve and seat in the carb, the one the float attaches to? We ride at the Oregon dunes all the time so she could use a little more umph to get around, I have read about removing two of the clutch weights, which ones? If I replace the piston should I go with aftermarket or Suzuki. Open to all ideas.

dealer told me you can't get that tube for petcock. there's nothing wrong with the fuel filter fix i suggested. does your petcock free-flow in prime?
the carb one is at the top of carb, on the outside.basically restricts the throttle cable.it's like a hollow spacer. the exhaust one is like a washer with a small hole in it. it's at the pipe where it bolts onto the cylinder. don't mistake the wide metal "gasket" for the washer. the inside diameter of the metal gasket is the same as the I/D of the pipe and cylinder.
won't guess at the other stuff, i dunno.

You can get a kit for the carb. I think it has a new needle. Doubtfull you can replace the seat (it is replacable, I just dont think it's in the kit)
Use a stock Suzuki piston till the bore goes to 51.5 and 52mm. Weisco are the only ones made for those sizes.
The Suzuki piston will give you great service. I cannot say the same for the weisco.
Removing 2 of the rollers will start it out a lil faster. Remove rollers across from one another.
65lbs. is way low, get a bore and piston. It should bring it to 125 or so once seated.
The restrictors are: a washer type thing between the pipe and cylinder, the other is above the slide in the carb, it limits how far the slide goes up.
Have fun at the dunes
