It's not a 2-stroke or 4 stroke thing. It's an emissions thing.
There are smog legal 2 and 4 stroke snowmobiles, as well as personal watercraft.

The problem is in the added cost, complexity, and weight the smog systems add. Not as difficult to overcome or hide on something as big, heavy, and costly as PWC or SMB's.

The technology exists, it's just a matter of what the market will bear.

 

If you wanted to sell the 2002 lt 50 I would be intrested in buying it. My son wants an atv bad and we have had no luck finding a lt50 in northern Ca. Thanks. cpilger01@hotmail.com
