Default Newbie question?

So.. what everyone is saying is that the products you find on the dealer's shelf for cleaning and re-oiling the filters is not worth the money then.

I guess I should pa more attention to teh filter. I just have them clean it and do what ever the have to do when I take them in for service. Getting too old to crawl around on the floor and change my own oil these days... and with my bum legs, I'd be crying out "I've fallen and I can't get up" too much.

Dragginbutt, I would use the over the counter, off the shelf stuff myself. Like Confused said, Gunk is pretty harmful and if you don't do the gasoline fast enough, it will also eat away at your filter. So, from my experience, I would use the right stuff for the job.JMO

Also, I've handled some real life " help, I've fallen and I can't get up" calls. Had to break a few doors and windows to get in and not to mention the dogs

HAH.. Thats the one nice thing about getting old.... you can do stuff like that and use the "I'm Old" excuse....and get away with it...

Confused... what do they do with the elderly in Canada? Oh I know, move them to a condo in Florida right? <insert many happy smiley faces>

well the east coasters go to Florida ( I understand Floridians despise the french Canadians come winter), and the we(s)t coasters go to Palm Springs for the winter , where we're called snowbirds or cheeseheads.

funny you should ask tho. one of our local comedy shows does a special every year where they go to the US and ask Americans a bunch of stuff about Canada, and they make up some fictious scenarios and ask opinions. It's a bit cruel to expose the ignorance, but then the folks answering could give an honest answer too, like "I don't know". Anyways, one of the gags was asking people what they thought of Canada's cruel policy to the seniors, where they were sent on a barge to Baffin Island for retirement. (look on a globe, Baffin Island is pretty well the north pole). the comments were hilarious. Nobody said "that sounds like BS", they gave sympathetic responses, or supported the gov't or whatever.
