my son is ready to go faster.

Hello everybody this is my first post. My son is eight years old and he is only 50lbs. So I still have him on a 50. I just bought him a new Kymco mongoose. The dealer told me about two restrictions I could get rid of one was cut the green wire on the cdi box so I did that the other was take a spacer out of the clutch so I tried that but I cant figure out how to get the clutch apart from the pulley to get to the spacer. But when he rides it still hits the rev limiter real quick and tops out 15 mph or so. At top speed there is still alot of unused throttle left. I just think this thing has more power to give before I start trying to find proformance parts that will fit it which look like they may be hard to find for this brand. So if you know of any secrets or advice on this that would be great. thanks.

That little spacer will not allow the belt to shift out and the bike will stay in a lower gear, thus hitting the limiter and keeping the top speed down.If its on the front variator on the engine you can disassemble it with a impact gun and remove the spacer.I don't think you can get too much more than 15 mph out of a stock 50,maybe 20 if its a real quick one.Start adding mods, pipe, more compression, reeds and clutch mods and you can get to 30 mph and beyond pretty quickly.A jump in engine size up to 70ccs is also popular with the 50s.Some of the brands also have a huge rear sprocket to slow them down as well.

Thanks for the reply. I got the pulleys off but I couldnt figure out which spacer I needed to remove . As far as parts go where can I find stuff for a Kymco? Also for my older boys viper 90R? He needs more low end power we ride alot of tight trails and small jumps. Thanks again.

For performance parts try miniatvs.com or wrh racing. They will be able to tell you about the spacer and what hop ups are available for your 90R. I don't think any pipes are available yet for the reverse machines but all of the other hop ups will still work.
