Default Race Modifying a 90cc Dinli Diamond Back

Greetings all fellow Quad Racing enthusiasts. My two sons currently race LT80's that have motor and clutch work done by Jack Moore. I just purchased a "stock" 2003 Dinli Diamond Back 90cc. I am very interested in modifying this quad for racing here in Minnesota. I am looking for suggestions from all you fine people who have been through this or who do this for a living as to what I should do to make this a screamer. No big bore kit. Here is what I was thinking as far as mods……

-Cylinder and head work - Who does this best? How extreme?
-Aftermarket CDI - Go with the way expensive adjustable or the less expensive hi perf?
-Front and rear clutches - What needs to be done with these?
-A-arms and shocks - +3 a-arms with elkas? Other ideas
-Pipe - Which pipe is best?
-Carb - Is a larger carb necessary?
Wheels and tires - ??
Nerf Bars - ??
Swing-arm - Any changes necessary?
Rear Axle - Any changes necessary

I believe that I have two very capable racers, one of which I will put on the Dinli for 2005. I am hoping to put a cap on spending for mods at about $2500.00. Does this seem feasible? We are also open for sponsors should any of you have any ideas in that area.

I have seen a few ideas on different Dinli related websites and I am very anxious to get this project started.

Please help me out.

Thanks,
Todd George

Porting is always a good thing. Billy does ours. Rich and Jack are both good also.
Transmission- rollers and springs wil have to be changed. Other stuff will help but not drastically.
A-Arms- Get the +3.5 Chrome Moly is with the 12 " Elka's. You will also need a rear shock locator and a new rear shock. Get them both.
Pipe- Koso
Carb- 28mm
Wheels and tires- Fronts are ok but I would get aluminum rims, rears get the 18" holeshots
Nerfs- Yes get the foot brake also.
Swing-arm and axle are good. You will need wheel spacers for the rear.

Thanks for the input...It leads me to a few questions.....

-Does the 28mm carb require a different intake set up.(Filter, Reed cage, Reeds, etc?)
-What about CDI?
-Is the Koso pipe the same pipe from Maximum RPM's?
-Is there an aftermarket rear brake set up available from somewhere?
-What elkas do you recommend? The remote rezzies that are adjustable?

Thanks again!

The carb will require a new reed cage and manifold.
CDI- The DC is a little stronger off the bottom.
Maximum-RPM use to sell the ex-pipe. Now they have the Koso pipe. It runs really good. Hetrick just made a new pipe for the Dinli but I haven't use one so I can't comment on it. I am sure it is good.
Brake- Get the foot brake from Maximum-rpm. It works good.
What Elka's- The ones you can afford.
ALso, Get a 16 tooth sprocket for the front.
If you have seen pictures of Koty on a bike #51, That is a 2003.

Elka's and budget, first time I've ever heard those two together. If your planning on them, you better raise your budget. I have only priced Works for a LT, but single rates without rezzies was about 320 for front and 300 for the rear. Elka's, for larger quads seem to run about double that of Works. In my opinion, it would be money well spent. But at the same time, your budget takes a huge hit.
