Default Spark Arrestors

Please bear with me - I am totally new to this. Are spark arrestors fairly generic, in that you can get them to fit a certain size exhaust pipe? Or are they brand-specific? I have finally gotten my ATV and all the parts that were supposed to come with it, put it together and it runs fine. However, most of the places to ride require spark arrestors.

Can I just measure the pipe and pick one up that fits, or do I need to get one from the manufacturer or distributor? I have seen some attached via screws or bolts and someone told me that you could have one welded one.

Thanks for your patience with a rookie.

Default Spark Arrestors

Welcome to the forum RickV, I modified a answer sa pro from my CR500 to fit on my wifes quad. A yamoto 150. What you want to do should not be a problem as long as it is mounted securely.( doesnt leak from joint with pipe)

Thanks - can you pick them up at most motorcycle/quad dealers? How about Pep Boys, since they sell go-carts and quads?

The only companies that I know of that makes a universal fit spark arerestor is FMF and SuperTrap. You could look around on ebay for a used one. Not sure about pepboys, I would ask.

most pipes have a spark arrestor in them already, so you shouldn't need to buy anything. it's just a fine screen at the end of the pipe (on the inside). many can be removed, and cleaned with a wire brush. some can't.
