Default problem with yamoto 70

Took it out to Pismo Beach this weekend and tried it on the dunes. Didn't do to shabby. Took it out to a certain extent but told nephew to take it back. He swore that it could make it but it didn't. Ended up having to tow it back. Kick all kinds of sand on it towing it back. Now the thing doesn't want to stay on. It starts and everything but just won't idle. Opened up the carb and cleaned it and still having the same problem. Was curious if it might be the fuel filter or the spark plug???

I notice that the speed limiter screw fell out and was reading the manual about how to adjust the idle. Could this be the problem. I the speed limiter and the throttle stop screw the same???

Are you confusing the speed limiter screw and the idle screw on the carb? If the idle screw fell out of the carb, that's your problem. But you can't set the idle through the speed limiter screw, which is by the thumb throttle. If you haven't adjusted the idle screw on the carb (and it's still there), give that a try.

Replace the spark plug and now the bike idles. But only when the choke is on. Once I open it up either half way or all the way it just dies. Tried messin with the idle but that is not working. What else could it be???

First guess was clean the carb but you did that. did you blow it out with compressed air too?

No I didn't but when I cracked it open I didn't see a grain of sand or anything in it. I will try blowing it out though.

I also forgot to mention, not sure if it matters, but I also remove the restrictor plate also. Was thinking getting to much air and not enough fuel. Maybe???

Try it with the restrictor in place

I own the same quad and your issues are with the air/fuel mixture..Find the air/fuel screw on the carb and open it up one half [counter clockwise] at a time until it idles on its own.
