Default LT50 stuck in gear?

I have an 86 LT50 and something happened where it won't free roll (idle in place). It has constant drive, meaning you start it up and it just takes off or when you push it the engine turns over. Is there a clutch some where? What to do?

The same thing happened to my sons 04.
What I did was remove the side cover over the clutch and dissembled the clutch.
I did not find anything broke so I reassembled the machine, everything is working fine.
One thing that I did notice was if you put too much torque on the main clutch nut it will lock the trans up just like you explained.
You can go to bike bandit .com for an online microfish if you dont have an shop manual.

Hey thanks! I'll give it a try. Riding time is short up here so we have to move fast! I'll put in a good word with the big man for you.

Also, red loctite (thread locker) the main clutch nut so it does not come loose.
Sorry I forgot that in my first post.
Let me know if this fixes the problem.

Hi new to page but fink I have the answer if anyone has came across this problem..!!! There is a little (frush washer) inbetween clucth basket and the clutch assembly (clutch shoes)...if you removed the clutch and the washer isn’t 4mm in thickness then it’s been crushed..and quad Wil not disengage..

Even tho it's a old thread, that is a good reply.
Thank you.

Yes, thanks, I've got an LT50 in the corner of the workshop with a slipping clutch, so will make sure that washer is OK when I get round to fixing it. Any torque number for the nut?
