Hi Donna,

You can purchase the Baja 90's at Canadian Tire. We just bought 2 this week. From following this forum's messages it appears that they are good little machines. I have looked both of ours over extensively and they are well made. They run well and have a fair bit of pep (once you disconnect the rev limiter). We will be putting them thru the paces this weekend hopefully.

Good luck

Donna,

I forget to give you this in my last reply: they are made in the East and are distributed thru Baja Motorsports in the US. Check out their website for more info:

I think you can't go wrong with the Baja 90.Had the daughter out on it on the weekend and it works great. The only thing I recomend is putting a snorkel of some kind on the intake. When going through puddles some of the water spray got sucked in stalling the bike.It started up with no problems but just something needs to be put in front of intake deflecting some of the spray.

Bought a Baja 90 in August. Had to assemble it ourselves as Crappy Tire won't even touch these turkeys. We were missing the battery strap but as I soon learned we got off lucky. Baja Motorsports has shipped quads without bolts for the handle bars, and entire air intakes missing. Within a week the fuel tank started leaking and it has been all down hill from there. CT doesn't support these in any way. They won't fix them or help you get them fixed. Our Baja 90 sat for 85 days in the garage waiting for the part from the USA. They don't stock parts for the Canadian model, there aren't any depots for parts in Canada, the US or even in China. We have spent countless hours listening to Baja Motorsports make excuses and promises but the quad still doesn't run and the warranty period is over. Avoid this like its the bird flu. Though I think the bird flu would end up being a less painful experience.

Hi BurnedByBaja,

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. We bought a couple two weeks ago and haven't had much of a chance to ride them. Hope to get out this weekend and rack up a few miles. I have looked ours over very closely and found only one a couple of small problems: broken speedo sensor (I think I did this myself) and a misadjusted back brake disk (easily rectified by myself). Other than this all looks good so far. I called and spoke with Baja and should be getting a new speedo sensor in a couple of weeks or so. As for assembly, we had to put on the front bumpers and the handlebars, not too much to ask for the price. I have been reading this forum's messages since August to get some input on these units and I think this is the first negative information I have heard. Hope you get all your problems straightened out. To all the other posters; we should try to keep everyone up-to-date on issues that we are having, if we do, and how well Baja deals with them, or how we deal with them on our own.

Good luck BurnedByBaja, hope all works out for you.

Which Canadian tire Store did you buy this quad from?

My local store would have taken your quad back no problem after a week with a leaky tank. Same goes if your missing parts etc.

I wonder why there is so much differance between stores??

My local store does thier own warranty work in the auto service center. At least they were when I bought it back in August. Also they assemble them along with other stores I've been too. You can buy them in the crate though too.

So far my baja 90 is still working good with alot of hrs. on it.

Baja no longer stocks parts for these baja 90 quads ? Anybody else finding that this is the case? I know a few months ago it didn't seem to be a problem.

Crappy Tire wouldn't even take the Baja 90 out of the crate. Not one person from the store touched the machine. The mechanic wouldn't even lend me a tool to assemble it with. In hindsight I should have seen that as a warning. I thought I did a reasonable job doing my homework and checking this machine out on the Baja website and in these forums. What they don't tell you is this is not the same machine. This is the Canadian Model. The parts are different, the manufacturing quality is different. That is the main reason Baja doesn't have parts and can't get them distributed. That is why I have sat throughout the entire warranty period with a quad that can't run. All for want of a critical $5 part. Canadian tire wouldn't extend the warranty period and Baja laughed at the suggestion.

How come you won't tell us where you bought this quad from??

What mechanic are you talking about now that wouldn't lend you his tools?? You got to be joking right?

This thread is starting sound like someone is having fun.

THIS GUY HAS TO BE JOKING.. I KNOW THERE WAS SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE EARLY MODELS SUCH AS MINE ...BUT I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE AND GREAT WORDS FOR BAJA..THEY TOOK CARE OF EVERYTHING AND EXTENDED MY WARRANTY THREE EXTRA MONTHS NO CHARGE...I SPOKE TO RENE @ BAJA ..GREAT GUY. ..THE PART BOUT CRAPPY TIRE I BELIEVE CAUSE THATS WHAT MY STORE DID..WASHED THERE HANDS CLEANED BUT I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE A EARLY PURCHASER OF THESE MACHINES CAUSE MY QUAD WAS ASSEMBLED PRIOR TO ME PICKING IT UP..I MADE SURE OF THAT BEFORE I HANDED MY CASH OVER AND IT WAS SIGNED UPON ON THE INVOICE, AS FOR SERVICE THERE IS A REPUTABLE SERVICE DEALER IN OSHAWA ONTARIO THAT IS AUTHORIZED BY BAJA TO DO ANY WARRANTY OR KNOWN PROBLEMS SUCH AS LOOSE BOLTS OR WHATEVER MAY BE.

okay here it goes..
bought new baja 90 from crappy tire on simcoe day.. bring it home and cant get the damn thing to start .. ?? drained the battery ,had to go out a buy a battery charger.. finally got it to run after playing with the choke ..rode it for 20 mins in the rain ..fun but putter along and as u all mentioned started to bottom out ..??(rev limiter) ..well cause of the rain brought it home and tucked it away for a sunny day..
sunny day comes ..cant get the f@#C&^% thing started...neighbours come around and drink my beer trying to figure out why..no go .. ??
after a 12 pack, neighbour gord sticks a little screwdriver forcing the safety pin ALL the way in ..THE BEAST ROARS ..wow first try and vroom ... me ( 145 lbs) get on it and i go ..ran nice but again damn quad seems likes its choking ..(rev limiter) so i have fun with it and the young lad is grinning from ear to ear ..what a great bike i thought ... after checking all the nuts,bolts,lights,oil,plug..i filled it up with 91 and headed for mosport for a weekend of funfilled planned activities..rode all day sat fine ..no problem ..but had to force that damn pin in ..i guess it wriggles it self loose at times ..what i eventually done was open up the slits a touch or too and it fits in nicely..still works itself loose tho time to time....anyhoo..rode all day kids ,me ,wife,..put the bike away ..sun morn go to start ..nothing .click click ..was all i got tried starting it ..thought maybe starter jammed ..?? eventually drained battery which meant time to put bike on truck and go home.

monday morning phoned crappy tire..they refer me to a service center and then they basically washed there hands clean of the matter..no follow up or calls on my behalf to baja.
brought bike to repair shop and they pretty well handled it nicely ,calling baja and me,but i was not going to go thru a battle again as i did with crappy tire,so i called baja myself and got a manager to call me back.
Renee from baja called me back and told me the motor was SIEZED.... i assured him that at no time was the bike mishandled or rode contrary to break in procedures,he reassured me that i wasnt at fault and that they have recived over half a dozen quads from the same crappy tire(brock rd and 401 in Pickering)with siezed engines due to the fact of incorrect pre delivery inspections..

Aug 31 2005 .. well i got the bike back with new engine and properly set up, spoke to renee @ baja and told him i was going to stand on that motor for the next ninety days(extended warranty ) to make sure it is running properly after the 10 hour break in naturally...

Sept 3 2005 ..been away for a bit ..read me email..lots of tips ...i unhhooked the rev limiter..unscrewed the throttle ..and WOW............ does this lil thing ever go like stink ...amazing ..couldnt believe it that this lil 90 cc could flip the front tires ..the young lad was amazed..(hopefully he doesnt figure it out)

to end this i would like to say that make sure you or someone who knows these quads p.d.i them properly after you buy it.
(DONT TRUST CANADIAN TIRE)

the service i got from BAJA MOTORSPORTS was incredible to say the least , renee was fantastic and it is very reassuring to know that BAJA takes care of their customers.
