Default lt80 chain

I'm trying to understand what was said in other forums. I want to adjust the chain on the lt80, but i do not want to put a roller on it. I would like to increase the speed for my 12yr old son who likes to ride on trails with me and can't keep up with daddy's ltz-400. I have a stock gearing 10x22. If I increase the main drive to a 15 tooth and add link to the chain this will tighten the chain plus give it a little more speed? And thanks Lt80 for the starter problem. I pulled the pull starter off cleaned it now it works fine. I finally said screw it with the electric stater. If I had to pull start an engine when was little my kids can do the same.

Going up in front sprocket size will help get you where you want to be, but going to a 15 is dramatic. It'll cause a headache I'm tellin ya. LOL
You "MAY" be able to use a 11 tooth (yam blaster sprocket) and use the existing chain. Bigger than 11 would require a different chain. Regardless, going up 2-3 teeth in the front is all that is recommended.

FYI:: I go to 428 size sprockets (you have 520 now) and use #40 go-kart chain. The #40 chain has 1/2 links available to make things much easyer.
If you go that route, you will want a 13 or 14 front and a 26 rear.

Default lt80 chain

Hey Jack,
I'm waiting for my 428 sprockets to get here (26 Rear, 13,14 front),
but might not be in time for our next race.
I have a couple combos of the 520 sprockets.
I have Rear 20,21,22,23........Front 10,12,13

So I have a question on gearing.

According to the chart below:

22x10 (stock) = 2.20
22x11 = 2.0 as has been recommended.

Would these two combos be equal??????
26x13 = 2.0
20x10 = 2.0

Would these two combos be close??????
26x14 = 1.86
22x12 = 1.83

I'm not sure if the sizes matter, or the just the ratios ??????????????

If not, I'll just go buy the Blaster 11 tooth and try that.

THANKS

You are thinking correctly.
Use the 520 chain/sprockets for now.
