Default Actually pulled the trigger on a KFX50

After much contemplation, as you all know I actually bought my son's quad today. I really wanted to buy an 80 or 90 but my wife and common sense won out. Our son has never even ridden a quad before and is only 5, so the one speed KFX50 makes the most sense. We paid only $1400 with no other fees for a new '06, which made the decision that much easier. I figure that even if he quickly masters it that I can sell it next year for +/- $1200. We'll put a big bow on it and put it next to the Christmas Tree, being brand new will make it all that much more exciting.

Congrats Mrd. It's probably one of the best beginner quads out there. Long as you stay on fairly level ground, I'm sure you'll both love it.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a used CT kit. I'd imagine that most used LT/KFX buyers wouldn't want something like that, so if anyone decides to remove the kit prior to selling their quad...

My 5yo has been on the kfx 50 for two years and he loves it. Mine is still stock with the restrictor plate out of the exhaust and he can move along pretty good. We went to Praire City out side Sacramento yesterday and he powered up some god size hills. Your son will have a blast on it.

That's just what I wanted to hear, thanks! I see you're in CA as well, was your KFX issued a Green or Red sticker? I'm assuming I'll be getting a Red sticker due to the 2 stroke and VIN number but I keep hearing that many LT50 owners are still getting Green stickers??

I think my 50 is a '03 and it is a red sticker. I was at the dealer the other day and suzuki has a new 4 stroke 50 that is still a red stiker. I haven't had any problem riding through out the year with the red sticker on the little bike.

MrD, our 04 KFX 50 has a red sticker, and all 2 strokes manufactured from 03 on are supposed too. I have heard that some 4 strokes have been inadvertently issued red stickers as well when they should be green and vice versa. Nonetheless, we haven't had any problem using the quad in the off season as the red sticker dictates. There aren't too many sticker police out there but you could possibly have a problem at a state run OHV park.

Congrats on the new toy, your son will have a blast on it!

Has anyone heard that red sticker bikes will be issued green after they are 3 years old? Someone told me this but it wasn't what I would call a good source.
