Default Suggestions on LT80, just picked 2 up?

Thanks everyone for leading me in the right direction getting new(er) quads for my boys. Now looking for suggestions on what to watch for, change and who knows what on 2003 Suzuki LT80. Everything seems good with them so far. Picked up yesterday and the twins even got lucky ehough to catch on first snow this morning with them.

If we had an LT80, I'd do the following to it:

1 - Install DRL (Daytime Running Lights) as seen in:

http://www.rickystator.com/pages/LT8...ing%20kit.html
* For DRLs, dual front lights at 10 watts each would be better. To me, a double lights make better DRLs.
* For dark night riding (which I do NOT recommend to anyone under 16), then an upgrade High Output stator and double lights with 20W bulbs would work great. A single 35W light is ok but to me, it does NOT shine infront of the tires and sides of the trails very well.

2 - Install a mirror. This can be done by purchasing a universal mirror bracket mount and an inexpensive plastic mirror.

3 - Install a Chain Roller. For a picture, surf:

4 - Install Nerft Bars with heal protection. To me, a mini should come with full running boards or nerf bars. Foot peg design looks very dangerious to me.

5 - Widen the front end. This can be done by turning the front hubs around (and relocating the valve stem) or installing wheel spacers. 1.5 - 2.0 wider in the front dramatically reducing the risk of rull overs on sharp trail corners and/or doing donuts.

6 - Install Skid Plate / body armor. Being wider in the front, more things can catch its underside. Especially if bush / rock type trails. For picture surf: http://www.hebcodistributing.com/pages/youthpag.html

Hope this helps....

Thanks for the suggestions, never even thought of mirrors. They are a good idea. Also thinking about hooking up a brake light some how. So far the boys are having a blast on them. A big step up from a Kasea 50.

------------

On our '03 Pred-90, I created / installed a foot brake with a working switch and converted its tail light to a combo Running Light / Brake Light. To do this, I peformed the following:

Upgrade Rear Tail light:
- Removed our factory Tail light. Took the light assembly to a few Auto Stores and found a much better assembly. An assembly that comes apart and was a much better design.
- Installed a much better mounting plate. re: Welded on a 90 degree bracke and its mounting plate is thin steel. Mounted the light assembly to be 2" further in.
- Removed its factory combo bulb and replaced with an LED Bulb. This gives better lighting and uses less 12V watts. Thus, more watts available from our front lights.

Foot Brake Switch:
- Created / installed Foot brake.
- Removed the foot brake switch from my 2001 AC 500i.
- Using my mini welder, I created a 90 degree mounting bracket.

Wired it all together:

Note: I used a Relay to allow our DRLs to only come on when our engine key is ON and its manual 12V switch is ON. For a quicker install, wire directly to your 12V battery. What ever design / install you are more comfortable with.

Hope this helps....
