My 50cc will do 10 mph with the CDI limited, and 15 mph without the CDI switched on. I've never heard of any MPH limitations on kids quads. Not even the big 4.

badvox,

I agree with you as far as the quads being dogs out of a crate. Please give inquiring minds some hard copy proof on the regulation. Is this a Federal Regulation or a State Regulation? I think it is more of a safety guideline that the 4 manufacturer's have come up with together so as to keep children safer on their ATV's. And just because there is a guy in an engineering dept, does not make him right either. We need facts not hearsay.

2manytoys,

You make a good point.

Im sorry but I just never heard of any atv only doing 10mph out of the box. Hell I can run faster than 10mph.
My neighbor has a kawi 50 for his 5yo and this thing is pretty fast for a 50. Takes off slow but way more than 10mph.

Some of the newer kids quads have CDI limiters built in. Like the Alpha Sport Mini. It is a safety feature that limits revs to 10 MPH. Then when they get the hang of it, you can switch it to teh 15 MPH limiter. But thats it, unless you change out the CDI for the real 50 cc version.
